East of Eden, Steinbeck

A lucid account of the lives of two families in the Salinas Valley, the Trasks and the Hamiltons. Discusses in detail the story of Cain and Abel from the Book of Genesis.

This took me a while to finish because I stopped reading for about 2 months halfway through. I thought it was good, the description of the setting and atmosphere was amazing. Reading that first chapter as Steinbeck describes the Salinas Valley was great.
